Australian PM shrugs off climate bill defeat

SYDNEY — Australia's Prime Minister Kevin Rudd shrugged off the damaging defeat of his key carbon-trading bill on Thursday and played down the chances of an early election. Rudd, in his first comments on the legislation's failure, said he had "always" intended to serve a full three-year term and called on "wiser heads" in the opposition to Air Jordan Shoes back the bill when it is reintroduced in February. The prime minister passed up the chance to call snap polls after the bill's second defeat on Wednesday, which will leave him empty-handed at this month's UN climate talks in Copenhagen. He said the opposition, now led by climate-change sceptic Tony Abbott, was taking a more extreme Michael Jordan Shoes stance than ex-prime minister John Howard, who famously refused to ratify the Kyoto Protocol. "It seems that the Liberal Party are now saying they don't want an ETS (emissions trading scheme) at all, which would put them into a more extreme position than Mr. Howard," he said, according to public broadcaster ABC. "This summer provides a great Air Jordan 6 opportunity for calmer, wiser heads of the Liberal Party to prevail." Abbott, who ousted Malcolm Turnbull as Liberal Party leader during the turbulent debate, has said he will oppose the third reading of the bill, which he describes as a "great big new tax." Rudd's Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) aimed to cut emissions blamed for global warming by between five and 25 percent from 2000 levels by 2020, depending on what action is taken at the UN summit this month. But it ran into strong objections from the industrial and agricultural lobby as well as the conservative opposition, which ousted its leader Turnbull for supporting the cuts. Rudd, who will be a "friend of chair" at the December 7-18 Copenhagen talks, campaigned on a strong environmental platform and ratified Kyoto as one of his first acts after taking office in 2008.

Philippines files murder charges for massacre

MANILA, Dec 1 (Reuters) - Philippine prosecutors filed formal murder charges on Tuesday against a member of a powerful political family for the massacre of 57 people in a suspected clan feud that has stoked tensions ahead of elections next year. Andal Ampatuan Jr, a local mayor in Maguindandao province, and several as yet unidentified suspects will face 25 counts of murder before a regional trial court in Cotabato City on the southern island of Mindanao. They were accused of conspiracy Air Jordan Shoes in the execution of the wife, sisters and relatives of a rival politician, two lawyers, dozens of journalists and other civilians in Ampatuan town on Nov. 23, Justice Secretary Agnes Devanadera told reporters. The victims were on their way to an election office for the filing of nomination papers for a member of the Mangudadatu family when about 100-armed men attacked their convoy. Fifty seven people, including Air Jordan 9 journalists, were shot and hacked to death and most of them buried in three shallow graves on a hillside off the highway. "As we continue to gather evidence, we're seeing more names and more suspects, including members of the Ampatuan family," Devanadera told reporters. "Some of them pulled the triggers, some of them were of the group and we believed more than a hundred participated." She said state prosecutors had asked the court to deny the suspect bail, adding the crime was serious and had shocked not Air Jordan 10 only the country but the international community. Ampatuan remains under heavy guard at the main office of the National Bureau of Investigation in Manila. The Ampatuans have denied any role in the killing, blaming rogue Muslim rebels for the carnage, and have hired 40 lawyers. They also staged a rally at the weekend to show they have the support of the people. On Tuesday, lawyers for the Ampatuans asked the Supreme Court to issue an order preventing security forces from making arrests without due process and warrants. Police have found two witnesses who identified six people, including four members of the Ampatuan family, as among those involved in the abduction and executions, Jesus Verzosa, the national police chief, told reporters.

Mumbai still feels insecure a year after attacks

Reporting from Mumbai, India - In the last year, India has deployed rapid strike law enforcement officers in four cities and purchased night-scope equipment. Mumbai police increased the numbers of weapons and vehicles at police stations and created specially trained early response units. Dhananjay Srirang, 38, a Air Jordan 10 constable, said he checks the identity cards of fishermen and boaters in the port, a new procedure, and B. Raman, director at Chennai's Institute for Topical Studies, said intelligence links with the U.S. have been strengthened. The changes, all geared toward increasing the sense of safety, came in response to the terrorist attacks in Mumbai one year ago today that left 166 people dead and about 300 injured in a luxury hotel, train station and other locations in across the city. But many observers say the Air Jordan Shoes changes fall far short of providing protection from terrorists or other dangers, and some assert that new safety measures have done nothing to protect Mumbai, a global financial capital formerly known as Bombay. "The only reason we haven't been attacked is that the Taliban and Al Qaeda are too busy looking at Pakistan to look here," said Y.P. Singh, an Air Jordan 11 analyst and former Indian Police Service member. "Ultimately it's only because they have their hands full." Home Minister P. Chidambaram, who has made security a priority, also said recently that the nation is just as vulnerable as before. Residents are still haunted by the attacks. Anita Oriya Rajender, a 40-year-old garbage picker who lives near a jetty in Mumbai, remembers seeing the attackers when they came ashore. She had headed down to the jetty that night to brush her teeth before heading for bed in a gritty neighborhood of hovels and fishing boats. As she neared the water's edge amid dirty plastic bags lapping gently in the surf, she noticed an inflatable boat carrying six men. They swung duffel bags over their shoulders, hugged one another and flashed a thumbs up sign before heading off in different directions. "Thirty minutes later I heard blasts and put two and two together," she said. "Now a year later, I can't help but thinking if I'd said the wrong thing to them, I'd be dead." The 10 attackers killed top Mumbai anti-terrorism cop Hemant Karkare, two colleagues and four civilians near a hospital; 52 at Mumbai's main railway station; 11 at a trendy cafe and 35 at the Oberoi hotel.

China calls for 'serious soul-searching' on climate

China laid out its stall with just days to go before climate change talks in Copenhagen, saying it was time for some serious soul-searching by developed nations and stressing it would not be pushed around. In an exclusive interview with The Times, China’s special representative to the talks, Ambassador Yu Qingtai, said the major responsibility for reaching a deal lay with world’s developed countries. China was not ready to Michael Jordan Shoes give ground on climate issues, Mr Yu intimated, in the absence of firm commitments from developed countries to goals long ago agreed in earlier climate change conferences, from Kyoto to Bali. China is the world’s Air Jordan 12 third largest economic power and its largest carbon polluter. He said: “There are nice statements, public announcements by governments and leaders of the developed countries. But if you look at the actions they have been taking, we Air Jordan 13 believe there is a lot of ground to make up. In general, what we wish to see is that the developed countries match their words with their actions.” Together, the United States and China account for some 40 percent of total carbon emissions. Beijing has set a target of cutting energy consumption per unit of GDP (gross domestic product) by 20 percent in the five years to 2010. It may reach that by the skin of its teeth. Another goal China is trying to reach is to increase the ratio of renewable energy, from seven percent to 10 percent of its total generating output by the end of the decade. Beijing is also aiming to ensure renewable energy makes up 15 percent of its total by 2020, while President Hu Jintao in September pledged to introduce a carbon intensity target, essentially a pledge to reduce the amount of carbon emitted per unit of increased economic output.

Ayodhya report put to parliament

Parliament was in uproar on Monday with the main opposition BJP party reacting angrily to reports that its top leaders were implicated in the demolition. Excerpts leaked from the inquiry report blamed senior BJP figures, including Atal Behari Vajpayee and LK Advani. The mosque was brought down by a Hindu mob and some 2,000 people died in riots across India after its demolition. The 900-page Liberhan commission Air Jordan Shoes report was submitted to the government in June but its contents were not made public. Led by former high court judge MS Liberhan, the inquiry took 17 years to complete its work, at a cost of more than 65m rupees ($1.3m). Scuffle Home Minister P Chidambaram Air Jordan 23 submitted the report in parliament at 12 noon (0630GMT). A scuffle broke out in the Rajya Sabha (the upper house of parliament) immediately after the report was presented. Angry BJP lawmakers shouted slogans and many of them ran into the well of the House. The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm. Details about the commission's findings appeared in the Indian media on Monday. The inquiry is believed to have Jordan 6 Ring said that the build-up to the demolition of the mosque had been meticulously planned and described BJP leaders as "pseudo-moderates". The report apparently exonerated the Congress prime minister at the time, PV Narasimha Rao, of any responsibility - it said the federal government could not act in the absence of any recommendation from the state governor.

Romanian President, Opposition Leader to Meet in Run-off Poll

Nov. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Romanian President Traian Basescu will face opposition leader Mircea Geoana in a Dec. 6 run-off election that will determine who selects the next government and helps pull the nation out of recession. Basescu took 32.8 percent of the vote and Geoana, head of the former communist Social Democratic Party, took second with 31.7 percent, eliminating 10 other candidates and setting the stage for a second round, according an exit poll conducted by the INSOMAR polling institute. Liberal leader Crin Air Jordan Shoes Antonescu was third with 21.8 percent, and was eliminated. “Today was a victory we obtained in the first stage of the presidential race,” Basescu said in a speech to supporters yesterday after the exit poll results were released. He said voter turnout was “a big motive for joy and satisfaction.” The winner will name a prime minister Air Jordan 7 to replace Emil Boc, whose 10-month-old government collapsed in the wake of Cabinet infighting over budget cuts. A new Cabinet with a majority in Parliament will be needed to counter the worst effects of a recession and work to preserve a 20 billion-euro ($30 billion) international loan led by the International Monetary Fund. Almost 50 percent of the 18 million Michael Jordan Shoes eligible voters in the Balkan nation of 22 million turned out at polling stations, electoral authorities said, based on a count two hours before polls closed. A final vote count is expected over the next few days. Presidential Duties The president, who has the power to nominate the prime minister, has some power to veto laws, signs international accords and weighs in on international affairs. This time around, economists and political analysts are mainly looking at the candidates for their ability to unite lawmakers behind a premier. Romania’s leu fell to a seven-month low and bonds plunged after the government collapsed on Oct. 13. The currency has strengthened about 0.2 percent since then, while the yield on the benchmark international sovereign debt due June 2018 is up 16 basis points at 6.367 percent, according to Bloomberg data. Basescu, 58, a former tanker captain supported by the Liberal Democratic Party, has tried twice to push proposed premiers through Parliament this month. Lucian Croitoru, a central bank adviser, was rejected 250 to 189 and lawmakers have refused to vote on a second candidate, Liviu Negoita, a mayor of a sector of Bucharest. Geoana’s Edge He would lose to Geoana, 51, in the run-off, with 46 percent to his rival’s 54 percent, according to a Nov. 18 survey by the INSOMAR polling institute. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent. “We have worked hard in the last few years, months and hours to get here,” Geoana said to supporters after the exit poll results were announced. “We will work harder in the next two weeks and we will win on Dec. 6.” The Liberal Democrats hold 167 of Parliament’s 471 seats while the Social Democrats have 158 and the National Liberal Party 79. “I can’t really support any of the candidates because I can’t see any of them solving our problems,” George Mihailache, 67, a retired high school teacher, said as he prepared to vote yesterday alongside his wife at a school in northern Bucharest. “I think Geoana has the best chance of forming a government so that’s who we’ll vote for. Even a bad government is probably better than no government.” If the winner of second-round elections fails to garner enough support in naming a premier, he has the power to dissolve Parliament and call new elections, meaning the country would be without an effective government until March or April. Boc remains in power as a caretaker prime minister, albeit with limited powers. Third Attempt “I will designate a third candidate if Negoita fails and this prime minister will reflect the right wing,” Basescu said in a campaign speech. “Romania can’t afford another round of parliamentary elections.” While the country struggles for a stable government, the IMF is demanding spending cuts and investors await tax changes that only a new government can make. Romania is the European Union’s second-poorest country and needs IMF funds to protect its currency and cover a widening state budget deficit. The Washington-based lender has already stalled payments on the loan until a new budget plan for 2010 is passed. The economy, the fastest growing in the EU last year, shrank an annual 7.1 percent in the third quarter and unemployment doubled. Voters will also be asked to indicate whether to reduce the number of lawmakers to 300 and create a unicameral Parliament, eliminating the distinctions between the Senate and the lower house, known as the Chamber of Deputies. Basescu proposed the referendum, which is not binding.

Screening of The Blind Side a hit with football coaches, players

Scores of football players lined up outside one of AMC Studio 30’s main auditoriums Monday night and not a single one had paid for a ticket. Olathe South, Olathe East and Olathe Northwest lettermen jackets dotted the line, which wrapped around a corner and down the movie Air Jordan Shoes complex’s massive hallways several hundred deep. Basehor-Linwood, Shawnee Mission East and SM West jackets also were frequently spotted. The free evening at the movies was part of the promotional run-up to Friday’s nationwide opening of “The Blind Side,” a Disney feature film Air Jordan 7 about Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Michael Oher based on Michael Lewis’ book “The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game.” And by every measures, the screening was a smashing success. “I had already read the book and it was exactly Michael Jordan Shoes like the book,” Hawks senior quarterback Carter McEntee said. “I thought it was great.” Falcons coach Jeff Gourley took his sons to the show, while Ravens coach Todd Dain attended with his oldest daughter, Andie, 10, who is a fifth-grader at Meadow Lane Elementary.

Movie review: The raw power of 'Precious'

Great stories don't have to be grand epics. Some unforgettable stories come from characters traveling the distance of baby steps. Case in point: "Precious," an engrossing portrait of a marginalized Harlem schoolgirl. Precious Jones (Gabourey Sidibe) begins her journey trapped in an abyss of inner-city poverty and abuse. We leave her on a hushed note of expectancy. The film is not Air Jordan Shoes a wallow in pathos but a rare and remarkable call to empathy. At 16, Precious is self-isolated, depressed to the point of shutdown. She is near-illiterate, obese and impregnated for the second time by her father. She's taunted and shoved by her equally maladjusted peers. In fantasy sequences Precious Michael Jordan Shoes flees to a vacuous dreamland of stardom, glamour and handsome boys. She has so much self-loathing that when she primps at her bedroom mirror, her reflection is a lithe blonde. Initially we can't read much on Sidibe's impassive face; director Lee Daniels hints she's deeper than we assume. Notice the color-coordinated plastic necklaces she wears Air Jordan 17 with her shabby school clothes. The girl has an eye for beauty. Daniels (who produced "Monster's Ball") carries us into Precious' tawdry world with pungent realism. He's a masterful filmmaker, fully in command of troubling, taboo-tackling material. He addresses issues such as petty crime, welfare fraud and emotional, physical and sexual abuse with candor. Working from a low-budget documentary aesthetic, he gives every shot the tang of unflinching objectivity. Closeups show the actors' blemished skin. When Precious prepares meals for her harridan mother, Mary (Mo'Nique), you smell the rancid grease in the frying pan. This resolute adherence to authenticity extends to the characters' painful emotional lives. Mary reigns over their squalid apartment like the queen of hell. She keeps Precious on hand only to protect her welfare stipend and run her errands, subjecting the girl to barbaric cruelty. Part of the film's power is that it sees the vestiges of humanity in this monster. Mary knows her best years have gone. She feels a twisted sexual jealousy toward her daughter. Those are merely explanations for Mary's cruelty; they don't excuse her.

Administration Lowers Bar for Success in Afghanistan War, Seeks Exit Strategy

Top Obama administration officials took pains to lower the bar for success in Afghanistan Sunday, stressing that the administration is seeking an exit strategy and holds "no illusions" that it will transform the country into a functional modern Air Jordan Shoes democracy. The ongoing rhetorical tweaking of the U.S. mission in Afghanistan comes as the president weighs whether to send more troops to the war zone. It was thought that officials were leaning toward sending more than 30,000 U.S. forces, but Obama rejected all troop-level proposals last week, sending strategists back Air Jordan 11 to the drawing board. Obama is expected to announce some troop increase along with clearer limitations on U.S. goals for the war when he returns from Asia late this week. The announcement is expected either just before or just after the Thanksgiving holiday on Nov 26. But while the three-month Air Jordan 12 delay in settling on a new war strategy has frustrated Democrats and Republicans alike, administration officials argue that Obama is within his rights to take his time and that the mission must be narrowed. They say the focus from here must be on ensuring that Afghanistan does not return to being a "safe haven and a staging platform" for terrorists. "We have no illusions. This is not the prior days when people would come on your show and talk about how we were going to help the Afghans build a modern democracy and build a more functioning state and do all of these wonderful things," Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told ABC's "This Week" on Sunday. "That could happen, but our primary focus is on the security of the United States of America." White House Senior Adviser David Axelrod said Sunday that there is a "concern" in the administration about exit strategy, which he said will be a factor in the decision process. "We have been there for eight years. It is a long, long time. And we have to keep focused on what our purpose was in the first place. Our purpose was to disrupt and dismantle and destroy Al Qaeda," he told CNN's "State of the Union." But obviously we cannot make an open-ended commitment. And we want to do this in a way that maximizes our efforts against Al Qaeda, but within the framework of bringing our troops home at some point. ... There has to be a framework to this decision." Clinton stressed that point in a separate interview with NBC's "Meet the Press," though she said she would not "define the exit strategy" at this stage. "We're not interested in staying in Afghanistan. We're not interested in any long-term presence there," Clinton said. Clinton, an influential voice in deliberations about whether to add large numbers of U.S. troops to the eight-year war, also said Afghan President Hamid Karzai can do more to reduce corruption and go after those who may have looted U.S. aid in the past.

LeBron says he's done talking about free agency

ORLANDO, Fla. — Frustrated by the repeated questions about his future, LeBron James said Wednesday that he won't talk about his possible free agency next summer until after this season. The Cleveland star and Michael Jordan Shoes reigning NBA MVP said before the Cavaliers' game against Orlando that all the talk is "getting old." James cut off interviews after being hit with questions about free agency and teaming with Miami's Dwyane Wade, who has said the two have discussed forming a mega-tandem. "This free agent talk Air Yeezy is getting old. It's getting old and I think I'm going to stop. Tonight will be the last time I answer any more free agent questions until the offseason," James said. "I think I owe it to myself, and I owe it to my teammates. It's just getting old. I'm focusing on this season, and this is going to be a really good season for us. I don't want anymore distractions for my teammates, for my organization, for Air Jordan Shoes my family. This will be the last time I answer a free agent question for the rest of the year." James can opt-out of his contract at the end of this season and become a free agent. He has been overloaded with questions about his plans and has continued to say that winning is most important. Teams have even been slicing payroll in anticipation of the 2010 summer, when James and Wade are among the All-Stars who can opt-out of their contracts. James has never hinted that he would leave Cleveland, about 30 miles from his hometown of Akron. But he's never said he would stay, either. Although James insisted that he wouldn't talk about the subject again this season, that doesn't mean he won't be asked. Cleveland plays at Miami on Thursday, and the South Florida media will surely be searching for more answers.

Retired Colonel to Defend Accused Fort Hood Shooter

A retired Army colonel and former military judge at Fort Hood has been hired to represent the officer accused of going on a shooting spree and killing 13 people last week at the Texas military base. John P. Galligan told ABC News today that he has been retained by the family of Major Nidal Malik Hasan and has traveled from his office in Belton, Texas, to San Antonio where Hasan is being treated at the Air Jordan 3 Brooke Army Medical Center. Galligan said he was aware that Hasan, who was shot several times, was conscious and talking with hospital staff. He said he intends to make sure that Hasan's rights are protected, and to that end has asked federal authorities to stay away from his client. He declined to discuss his client's Air Jordan Shoes motives or what his line of defense would be. "I don't think we really know all of the facts, we don't know what the charges are, we're not even necessarily sure of exactly what the specific jurisdictions" Galligan told ABC News. While no charges have been filed yet against Hasan, military sources late today confirmed to ABC News that Hasan wil Air Jordan 4 be charged and tried in military court, although it still not clear if the trial would be held at Fort Hood or at another military facility. Prosecutors have also said they have yet to be able to determine a motive for the lethal rampage, although family and acquaintances say Hasan was increasingly religious and had turned against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

New Star Taylor Lautner Rises in "New Moon"

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Women swooned for Robert Pattinson as vampire Edward Cullen in last year's hit movie romance "Twilight," but in its upcoming sequel Taylor Lautner, who almost didn't make it into the film, is the newest hunk for fan's to feast on. "The Twilight Saga: New Air Jordan 15 Moon" rises in theaters on November 20 as one of the most-anticipated movies early in Hollywood's holiday season. Predecessor "Twilight" made $384 million at worldwide box offices in 2008, and its young principal actors, Pattinson and Kristen Stewart Michael Jordan Shoes , shot to overnight stardom. But in "New Moon," the second romance about the netherworld adventures of teenager Bella Swan (Stewart) and the love of her life Cullen, it is Lautner who grabs the spotlight. He portrays American werewolf Jacob Black, Swan's protector when Cullen leaves her to go to Italy. Black's devotion to Swan has earned him -- and that means Lautner, too -- the devotion of millions of young girls Air Jordan 16 obsessed with author Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" books on which the movies are based. "We have fans all the time that will just burst into tears, it's just moving," he said. "It must mean so much for them to meet us, and it's an amazing feeling to know that you can touch someone in that way." Prior to "Twilight," the 17-year-old Lautner was best known for his starring role in 2005 children's film "The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D." And in 2008's hit vampire film, the Jacob Black role was a small one as Swan's childhood friend. So, Lautner is relatively new to the stardom "New Moon" is bringing, and the teenager seems to be enjoying it.

Chris Brown: Rihanna Beating a 'Private Matter'

Chris Brown has heard what Rihanna has said about her beating – and while he supports her right to speak out, he wishes she had kept quiet. 'I maintain my position that all of the Air Jordan 7 details should remain a private matter between us," he said in the statement to MTV. "I do appreciate her support and wish her the best." In a 20/20 interview Friday, Rihanna offers a graphic account of the Feb. 7 fight with her then-boyfriend Brown, describing what she calls the terrifying blankness that seemed to come over him as he assaulted her. "He was Michael Jordan Shoes clearly blacked-out," she says. "There was no person when I looked at him." Although Brown declined to respond to her specific comments, he again took responsibility. "I am extremely sorry for what I did, and I accept Air Jordan 8 accountability for my actions," he tells MTV. "At this point, I am taking the proper steps to learn about me and grow from my mistakes. I only hope that others in similar situations can learn from our experience as well. Abuse of any kind is always wrong. The rest I leave it to God."

Maine Rejects Same-Sex Marriage

Rolling back the law is a setback for gay-rights advocates and makes Maine the third state in which residents reversed their government's decision to permit gay marriages, after California and Hawaii. Same-sex marriage has yet to win a popular vote in any state, despite a recent string of wins in the New England region. The other Michael Jordan Shoes states that grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples -- Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, and Vermont -- have done so via legislative vote or judicial ruling, and New Hampshire will grant such marriages starting in January after a vote by its legislature. The federal government and most other states don't recognize same-sex marriages. Maine currently grants domestic-partnership status to same-sex couples, along with about seven other states. The state's Air Jordan 6 legislature voted in May to allow gays to marry each other, but an opposition petition campaign led the measure's implementation to be delayed and submitted to a popular referendum Tuesday. In Washington state, voters appeared poised to approve the expansion of rights granted to gay couples under the state's Air Jordan 7 domestic-partnership registry. Earlier this year, the state passed a law to expand domestic partnerships to have the same rights as marriages under state law. Early returns showed 51% approving of the expanded status, compared with 49% who voted to reduce the rights of same-sex domestic partners. Also Tuesday, Mainers approved a measure to broaden the state's medical-marijuana law to allow nonprofit organizations to dispense marijuana to the sick.

US scales down hopes of global climate change treaty in Copenhagen

The US has given up hope of reaching a global climate change treaty at Copenhagen and is working towards a deal late next year, the Obama administration said today. The decision ends hopes of a legally binding deal being sealed Air Jordan 7 next month. "We have to be honest in the process and deal with the realities that we don't have time in these four weeks to put the language together and flesh out every crossed t and dotted i of a treaty," said John Kerry, who chairs the Senate foreign relations committee. Todd Stern, the state department climate change envoy, agreed. "It doesn't look like it's on the cards Michael Jordan Shoes for December," he said. "We should make progress towards a political agreement that hits each of the main elements." The scaling back of US ambitions follows a growing international consensus that a binding legal agreement on global warming could not be reached at Copenhagen – now just 32 days away. The US shift resets expectations for what will be accomplished at Copenhagen, once billed by the UN as a last chance to avoid catastrophic global warming. Stern, in comments to the house foreign relations committee today, said his comments playing down prospects for a binding treaty at Copenhagen reflected the views of senior US politicians including Ed Markey, the author of a climate change bill passed in June. Stern insisted that negotiators were intent on producing a blueprint in Copenhagen that would lead to a binding legal agreement "perhaps next year or as soon as possible". Kerry, speaking at a National Journal seminar, said he was looking for countries to begin to put in place firm commitments at Copenhagen that would then be enshrined in Air Jordan 9 international law by the end of 2010. "What I am looking for is a binding and real political agreement where the world comes together in Copenhagen with an agreement for fixed reductions that are measurable, verifiable and reportable Then you set either a June or July date or the Mexico date in December next year and work on the language in that year."

Disney Wins China Approval for Shanghai Theme Park

Disney and the Shanghai government proposed to build a theme park in the city in January. The Burbank, California-based company is betting on the world’s most populous nation as profit at the company’s theme parks tumbled 19 percent in the third quarter with sales at the unit declining 9 percent. “China is one of the most dynamic, exciting and important countries in the world, and this approval marks a very significant milestone for The Walt Disney Company,” said President robert A.Iger in the statement.
